Connection refused or timed out
Check if the server is up
Look at the home page. If the server shows Offline or Checking, it’s down. The server goes offline for maintenance or when nobody’s been on for a while.
Check Discord for announcements. If nobody’s mentioned it, ping the group.
Make sure you’re running the right modpack
The SMP requires the Dome modpack. If you join with vanilla Minecraft or the wrong mods, the server refuses the connection.
- Launch the Dome instance in the Modrinth App (not vanilla, not a different modpack)
- Wait for it to fully load
- Try connecting again
Connection timed out
This usually means:
- Your internet dropped
- The server is restarting (wait 30 seconds and try again)
- A firewall is blocking Minecraft
If it keeps timing out and the server shows Online on the home page, try:
- Restart Minecraft
- Restart your router
- Check if other multiplayer servers work (if they don’t, it’s your connection)
