Install the modpack

What you need

  • The Modrinth App (free, works on Windows/Mac/Linux)
  • At least 6GB of free RAM
  • Java 21 or newer (the app installs it for you if you don’t have it)

Install the app

  1. Go to modrinth.com/app
  2. Download the installer for your platform
  3. Run it and follow the prompts

Add the modpack

  1. Open the Modrinth App
  2. Search for “Dome” in the Browse tab
  3. Click the Dome modpack card
  4. Hit Install
  5. Wait for it to download (takes 2–5 minutes depending on your connection)

The app creates a new instance with the right Minecraft version and all the mods. You don’t need to do anything else.

Set your memory

Before you launch:

  1. Right-click the instance and choose Options
  2. Go to the Java tab
  3. Turn off Use global settings
  4. Set Maximum memory to 6144 MB (or 8192 if you use shaders)
  5. Hit Save

See Allocate more memory for why this matters.

Join the server

  1. Launch the instance
  2. Wait for Minecraft to load
  3. Hit Multiplayer — the Dome server is already in the list, the pack ships with it
  4. Double-click it to join

If you ever need to add it by hand, the address is smp.dome.rocks.

Verifying on first join

The first time you connect you’ll be frozen in place and unable to move. That’s EssentialsDiscord, not a crash — the server holds you there until your Minecraft account is linked to your Discord one. Follow the prompt in chat to link up, and you’re free to move.

You only do this once. After that you join straight in.

If it kicks you instead, check Discord — the server might be updating or offline.
